Almost all major professional league feature a mid-season or post season "all star" game that features competition between the leagues elite talent. The NBA has taken the All Star game to another level and it has become an All Star weekend.


In this episode, Mike, Tom Smith and (introducing) Thomas K discuss how the NBA All Star Game impacts the league and the players. The core of the discussion revolves around the concept of stardom. From the league's perspective the all-star game and associated events is a tool for creating and highlighting its stars. For the players, the game and skills events are probably most useful during the early portion of a career.
